A Commitment to Sustainability
By integrating sustainable practices into both our production processes and packaging, Terrea ensures that every aspect of our product lifecycle is environmentally responsible. We believe that true sustainability encompasses not just the final product but also the journey it takes to get there.
1/3 of the year is powered by solar energy
Installing solar panels on the factory rooftops can provide electricity for lighting, machinery, and other equipment during sunlight hours. This not only reduces dependence on non-renewable energy sources but also lowers long-term operational costs.
80% of ceramic paste scraps and leftovers are reincorporated in the production
The reincorporation of paste scraps in the production process of new stoneware ceramic pieces is a fundamental strategy in the manufacturing of Terrea tableware. Ceramic paste scraps from cutting pieces or defective products are collected, ground, and remixed into the original ceramic paste, ensuring that virtually nothing is discarded as waste.
Our ceramics are made from recycled clay
-
Reuse and reincorporation of paste scraps
We reuse the clay from defective pieces and excess clay scraps for the modeling of new pieces.
-
The clay returns to its cylindrical shape
The clay is soaked in water, which helps dissolve it and transform it into a softer, more malleable paste. It then goes through a filtration process to remove any impurities.
-
Creation of new pieces
With the recycled clay, new pieces can be molded while maintaining the necessary quality and flexibility for ceramic work
Minimal Water Waste in the Production Process
The water used in glass production and ceramic paste preparation is collected, filtered, and treated to be reused in the same processes. This ensures that the factory operates with minimal water waste, promoting a continuous recycling cycle.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
Use 100% Recyclable Materials
Ensure all packaging components, including boxes, fillers, and tapes, are made from materials that can be fully recycled
Sustainably Sourced Materials
Source all packaging materials from suppliers who follow sustainable and ethical practices, such as FSC-certified paper products
Eco-Friendly Fillers
Replace traditional plastic fillers with sustainable alternatives like shredded paper, cornstarch peanuts, or air pillows made from biodegradable materials.
Efficient Design
Our packaging is designed to be as efficient as possible, using the least amount of material necessary to protect our products. This reduces waste and resource consumption.
Reduce the amount of packaging going to landfill
Provide clear instructions on how to recycle of the packaging responsibly. We have implemented recycling and composting programmes at our facilities to ensure that packaging is disposed of in a responsible and environmentally friendly way.
